Sex Education: Not at School; Not at Home

So this is different.  Some misguided mum wanted to give her sons—ages 12 and 16—a lesson in Sex Education.  Now, arguably, she may have gone about it a bit wrong, but to be charged with a misdemeanor and be placed on probation.  Perhaps it was a lapse in judgment to demonstrate to her kids her prowess in giving head to a dildo and recounting her sexual exploits, but c’mon: how repressed can these governments be?  We need MORE separation of Church and State.  This includes Christian-imposed morality judgments.

As a Buddhist, Relativist, and a Rationalist—I despise the term “atheist,” supposing rather to consider religious types as a-rational, framing the discussion around rationalism instead of theism—, I find myself at a formidable disadvantage in Western societies.

In the end, if we don’t want Sex Ed taught in schools under the argument that this should be left to parents and at the same time we vilify parents who take an alternative approach, what options do we have left.  Of course we are always left with the option of trial by error, sort of like the way they run the government.  I guess this is just a Comfort Zone thing.

  1. why was she giving head to a dildo anyway, if anything she should have been demonstrating how to go down on a woman using, I don’t know, a bit of lettuce with a pea attached to it with cream cheese 😉

  2. Her methods were a bit much but I think you’re right. If we want sex-ed left at home we’ve got to give parents some latitude to do it in a way they feel is best.
